According to previous years cutoff of GATE ( for metallurgy ), the IITs with their required cutoff are listed below :

1. IIT Kharagpur - In 2017 the cutoff was 432 and in 2016 the cutoff was 628

2. IIT Kanpur - In 2016 the cutoff was 544

No cat exam is not applicable for admission of B.tech in IIT.

From Cat Exam you will get admission for MBA program in different IIM ,IIT and other good colleges.For getting admission in IIT for B.tech degree you have to clear JEE Advanced exam.

By far IIT kharagpur and IIT Bombay are considered the best aeronautics engineering colleges according to multiple surveys. Then ofcourse are iit Kanpur and IIT Madras. To be true prospect of aeronautics and aerospace in India is pretty low if you are not in one of the above

Considering you to be a general candidate , Sorry to say but there are very few or no chances of getting a good branch in IIT Kanpur with this score .But there are chances of other branches , you can check the previous year cutoffs for all the branches by
