iit kgp package offered in mechanical engineering (average, highest, low)

Debdeep Pramanik 31st Oct, 2020
Dear aspirant,

IIT Kharagpur is one of the oldest IIT Institute in India. It has an excellent placement cell as all the IITs. Almost 85% percent students got placed in previous few years. Five students from IIT Kharagpur bagged offers exceeding INR. 1 Crore per annum on the very first day of the placements of 2019-20. As per your query this is the best package offered to students.

Now coming to the average package offered. CSE dominated the CTC offered amongst all the branches with an average CTC of above 30 LPA. Mechanical Engineering bagged the highest number of offers with an average package of 20 LPA. Top recruiters included Google, Flipkart, JP Morgan, Apple, EXL Services, Quantiphi Analytics, Barclays GSC, OYO, etc.

The lowest package varies. But on an average all the students get placement with a standard CTC. As KGP IIT is one of the oldest and well established IIT undoubtedly it is having an excellent placement cell that helps to offer the best opportunities to the students.

iitr ece or iitkgp ee or iitk ee. Which choice should I prefer? which college has vast and hard syllabus?

SRINITYA 30th Oct, 2020

Hello student,

Sorry for answering your question late. The vast and hard syllabus doesnot depend on the college but it depends on the course or branch in which you are joining. Both ece and ee are a bit similar but ee deals mostly only with physics whereas ece deals with communication systems, control systems and microwaves. About which college you want to join, i suggest you to compare all the three colleges on various parameters and then choose a college of your choice.

which is better IIT kharagpur Agriculture and Food engeenering OR IIT Lucknow CSE.

SRINITYA 30th Oct, 2020

Hello student,

Comparing the colleges, IIT kharagpur is better than IIT lucknow but the branch you are getting in IIT lucknow is better than IIT kharapur. When compared to agriculture and food processing, CSE is better and has more chances of getting placements in good companies. However if you prefer good college over good branch, then i suggest you to get into IIT kharagpur. Both the IITs are good but the preference of branch depends on your own interest as you will have to study the same branch for 4 years. So please choose your college carefully and all the best

Whose aerospace engineering is better IITK, IITR IITD or IIST?

rajanavikas 27th Oct, 2020

Hello Ravi Kumar,

I can understand your confusion since all are good institutes for pursuing Aerospace Engineering.

Yes, IITK has an airstrip and a hangar equipped with 4/5 gliders. You can go in anytime and see those gliders. There is one whose skin has been ripped off so that you can see the structural arrangements of the glider. You get to have joy rides as well.

I cannot compare the research facilities of IITR ,IITR ,IIST and IITK ,since I don’t have complete information about IITM. Besides, it would be unjust to compare the research facilities since both institutions have focus on different areas of research.

I hope it helps you.

Which is better? MSc Math NIT Rourkela or MSc Physics IIT Kharagpur? (Both are Integrated courses)

Animesh 22nd Oct, 2020

From the point of view of placements, for M.sc in physics from IIT, Kharagpur the students who opted for placement, almost all of them were placed. The highest package was 20 LPA and the lowest was 6 LPA. Out of the total number of students getting placed, almost 50% of the students got placed in core fields, and the rest got placed in non-core fields like data analytics and finance. The total fees for this course is

Rs. 10.41 lakhs

Integrated degree of M. Sc in Mathematics from NIT, Rourkela will cost a total of Rs. 2.43 lakhs. About 70% of the students get placed from college. It's difficult to estimate the average packages, as many students opt for a PhD after completing the course. But the average salary package offered ranges from 8-9 LPA. Last year, one of the students from the 5th year got the highest salary package of 28 LPA by Goldman Sachs.

I have given AAT exam on 8 th Oct. which order to prefer for B.Arch... IIT KHARAGPUR / iit Roorkee/ Iit BHU...for B.Arch . i am serious about B.Arch

Ayush 20th Oct, 2020

Hi Chinmay,

First of all I want to mention that for getting into B.Arch into any of the IITs you have to qualify JEE Advance along with AAT Exam.

Now, coming on to the preferred IIT in B.Arch stream I would probably rate IIT KHARAGPUR first, then IIT Roorkee and finally IIT BHU based on their placements and on their respective NIRF 2020 Rankings.

I hope that you have now got a fair idea of the colleges, but at the same time you also have to work very hard for getting into these IITs. Wish you all the best for your Preparations!!

Is ECE ( in IIT Kgp) a good branch, to compete with C.Sc branh of NIT s ? Analyse the job opurtunities and higher studies etc.

Vivek Kumar 20th Oct, 2020

Hi, according to your question it seems something similar. If I talk about top NIT's like NIT Trichy, MNNIT Allahabad or VNIT Nagpur then the CSE branch of these institutes gives a tough competition to CSE branch students IIT's also. Now coming on the IIT, Kharagpur's EEE branch so let me tell you EEE highest placement package from EEE branch is approx 1 Croreand the average package is approx 5 Lakhs. So overall you just see IIT Kharagpur is an IIT afterall so it will always be better than any of the NIT's in any branch.

Good Luck.

I am thinking of taking BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOCHEMICAL ENGINEERING at IIT KHARAGPUR..With in my mind to score above 9 cgpa in 1st year..is it worth it if i get my branch upgraded to mechanical or civil..what will be the cutoff for upgrading to cse or ece?

Shruti Smaranika 20th Oct, 2020

Hello aspirant,

There's no wrong in any branch. Everything depends on the hard work of the student, be you're in the branch of biotechnology or biochemical engineering. And, most importantly, there's nothing like getting your branch upgraded and branch cutoffs in order to change your branch. It's changing your branch under the circumstances that you've no interest or you feel like you can't take up with this branch anymore or to be very honest, the study prospects of the particular branch is not up to your mark. If you want to change your branch, make sure you've scored more than 9 CGPA in the first year itself in both 1st and 2nd semesters and for that, you need to work harder. Getting a 9 CGPA or more than that is not that easy that you think from the surface. Check which branch is the most popular in study prospects as well as in placements, for example if it's CSE, then go for it. But at the end, you need to learn and develop your skills accordingly that can make you eligible to seat in the placements. Not only scoring more marks is important, but also applying your knowledge according to the given situation and practical experience will help you the most, no matter you're in any branch. At the end, hard work matters most. And every branch, be it mechanical, civil, CSE or ECE, is good at its own place and can't be compared with each other.

Hope, it helps you.
