  • Overall ranking
  • Infrastructure

  • Branch that you are been offered(Core/interdisciplinary)
  • Placement opportunities
  • Industry Exposure

The preference order you should consider is:

  1. IIT Delhi , Biotechnology
  2. IIT Kanpur, Material
  3. IIT Madras, Metallurgical
  4. IIT Kharagpur, Material
  5. IIT Kharagpur, manufacturing Science
  6. IIT Hyderabad, Civil
  7. IIT Indore, Mechanical

I would also like to add here that an engineering course should be very much taken with an interest in the field so I would suggest you to consider that factor and if you are not aware of the branches mentioned look them up on the internet. More reliable will be to go through the syllabus on the respective colleges' website. An interest in the field is the key factor in deciding how your 4 years of college will be and what opportunities you will land for yourself.

how much percentage in jee advanced 2021 should get obc ncl category candidates to get iit madras?

Anurag Khanna 28th Sep, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

As we go through the latest cut-offs of 2020 then it shows that the closing rank for OBC category was 5227 for Biological Sciences (5 Years, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (Dual Degree)) branch in IIT Madras .

See it is quite difficult to tell you about exact marks to score because for JEE-Advance no maximum marks are fixed but yes with regards to JEE-Advance 2021 if you secure your AIR in JEE-Advance under top 5200 in OBC category then there would be good chances for you to get into IIT Madras .

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

To have a list of all those colleges which you can get based upon your JEE-Main score, category, and state you can use JEE-Main College Predictor :-

what is the cut off iit madras b.tech mechanical eng obc ncl rank

Nitya 22nd Sep, 2021
Hey,
In 2020 the cutoff rank for Mechanical Engineering in IIT Madra was 1034. In 2019 it was 846. You can see the variation in cutoff. It is difficult for me to comment on the cutoff for 2021 as the cutoff varies every year depending on various factors like:

  • Total number of students applied
  • Total number of students appeared in the exam
  • Difficulty level of the exam
  • Total number of seats

You can refer the link for last few year's cutoff ogf IIT Madras.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-cutoff-for-iit-madras/amp

As the exam is yet to be conducted, it is not possible to say anything about the cutoff for this year's Jee Advanced to get into IIT Madra.

For more details regaring the exam you can refer the link.

what is the minimum obc ncl rank required for iit madras?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 19th Sep, 2021

Hi

This is a bit difficult to predict the rank required in to get a seat as cut off  keeps changing every year  depending upon various factors like  number of students that appeared in the jee advanced exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the examination , number of seats available for the branch you want etc.

When we go through previous year trend then ,

In round 6 of josaa counselling  , 5227 obc  rank in jee advanced for obc category  closing rank for gender neutral in IIT madras  and it was for Biological Sciences (5 Years, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (Dual Degree))

You can check the same at

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

So, you need around 5000 obc ncl rank for IIT madras

To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to,  your home state, your gender etc, the link for  jee college predictor is provided below
