Generally it is not compulsory for IIT students to live in campus hostels but this rule is different for different IITs like in IIT bombay if you live in a particular radius of college you are allowed to live at home or some other place otherwise not whereas in delhi

The minimum marks required in 12th to be eligible to get admission in IIT Madras or any IIT for that matter is atleast 75 percent(for Unreserved) and for SC/ST it is 65 percent.The candidates must have studied Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics in 12th.

For those who belong to general and OBC category, they meed to score an aggregate of 75% and other categories need an aggregate of 65% in their 12th exam.
