Hi Nikhil,

IGNOU is very much recognized by the UGC and there is no problem regarding the validity of the degree provided by them.

And as far as your question is concerned... Yes, you are eligible for CDS (Combined Defence Service) Exam

There will be no issue on which college you have passed your degree, your college should be UGC-recognized. Same thing goes for AFCAT as well. Although there are other eligibility criteria you might want to look into.

Can I apply for PhD after completing my Pg diploma from IGNOU or it needs masters degree??

Niranjana 14th Aug, 2021

Hello,

After completing your PG diploma, you have two options for pursuing your PhD:

The PG diploma must be recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as comparable to a master's degree programme, and you must score at least 55 percent overall, among other requirements.

One must hold a professional graduate degree (like mbbs, BTech/BE/BPharm/BVSc, CS/CA/CMA, etc.) that can be equivalent to a master's degree programme by ugc. In addition, in order to get admitted to a PhD programme, you must pass the CSIR/GATE/UGC Net/MHRD fellowship test.

Hope it helped
