Industrial Design
Hello dear candidate.
Keeping in mind the future prospects and job opportunities, both the fields are equally well promising. They both offer job security, if passed out from a good college, with a good grasp over the subject.
Depending on your liking and capabilities, you must cautiously choose your field of interest.
Hey harshita!
Industrial design at NIT rourkela is a good option . But when it comes to compare between indusstrial design at NIT rourkela and IT dual in IIIT gwalior because the foremost reason is that the latter has a much better future scope than the former. As IT forms the base of software and technology companies and the placements in IIIT gwalior are also good , so you can expect good placements from Iiit gwalior after this course. But you can not expect any placements for industrial design at NIT rourkela . You can only get a job after higher studies.
Hope it helps!
The branch that you should choose in NIT rourkela are in the following order of preference:
Biotechnology( better placements)
Industrial design( no placements , but more exposure)
Metallurgy ( better future scope)

I'll prefer CSE in IIT Bhubaneshwar. Just because CSE is a very great upcoming branch for the future life and has a great scope ahead since everything is concerned with the software and digital world. At the same time, IIT Bhubaneshwar is a great institution and has a great placement for CSE engineers.
So my personal choice will prefer CSE from IIT Bhubaneshwar. At the end of the day you will have opinions for both, advantages and disadvantages of either of the two courses and colleges. You have to be the smarter one making the perfect choice which suits you personally.
Best wishes. Thank you.
Hy there aspirant,
You can appear for the gate exam if you completed your bachelor's degree . You can write it for mechanical engineering . Wish you luck
Hi dear,
Hope you are doing well!
Now let's go through your question.
Definitely it will be a good choice if you want to pursue ID from NIT-R as it is one of the best NIT of the nation with some extremely well qualified faculties.
Now let's go to the placement scenario of ID:
If you have prepared for CAT and Analytics tests, target companies like Affine Analytics, ZS associates, Mu Sigma and a few other analytics companies. (4-6 lpa).
If you are really good at mechanical, you have a slight chance of cracking core mechanical companies like honda, 3dplm, thermax, etc (I say slight chance because most of the time INDians are not allowed to sit for mech companies because their curriculum is incomplete for mechanical profile) ( 4 - 7 lpa).
If you are good at design and has a decent portfolio newgen is the company for you, they hire ui/ux designers. They look for good sense for design and logical creativity in a candidate. (5-6 lpa).
Thank You & All the best!
Hi there
In terms of placements, industrial design engineering is a better option.
The placements are fine. The students offered an average package of 4-5 lacs per annum. The highest package was in UX/UI design company, and it is around 10 LPA. The placements are increasing in this branch. The students are also placed in some analytics company with a decent package. The placement scenario is good.
Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Amazon, Mu Sigma, etc. visited. They offered roles like designer. Almost 70 percent of the students got an internship from college. The highest stipend was Rs. 60,000, the lowest was Rs. 20,000 and the average was Rs. 30,000.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
NIT Rourkela is ranked better by MHRD because the institute has twenty [1]departments which offer B. Tech, B. Tech-M. Tech Dual, M. Tech, M.Sc, Integrated M.Sc, MBA and PhD degree.
Both NIT Rourkela and NIT Kurukshetra are similar, one cannot draw comparison. However, there are certain security concerns[2] in NIT Rourkela.
