HI Charanjeet,
The IELTS has four parts – Listening (30 minutes), Reading (60 minutes), Writing (60 minutes) and Speaking (11–14 minutes). The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are done in one sitting.
Each part is scored on a scale of 0-9 and then the average of the 4 sections is your score. You need to first understand How to calculate and understand IELTS Scores. Once you understand the scores you may then see what areas are your strength and what are your weaknesses and how you can balance the 4 areas to get your desired scores.
Do revert if you need more information.
Best wishes,
Hii
With the score of 6.5 in IELETS, you can apply in following colleges for Engineering Programs-
Columbia University
University of Michigan
University of Toronto
Austrialian National University
University of Melbourne
All the best.
Yes, it is possible to get admission to some colleges abroad without appearing for the IELTS exam, but it depends on the country, university, and program you are applying to. Some universities may waive the IELTS requirement if you have completed your previous education in English or if your native language is English. Additionally, some institutions accept alternative English proficiency tests like TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo English Test. In certain cases, universities may also consider your grades in English subjects or conduct their own language assessment. However, it's important to carefully check the specific requirements of each university and program, as the absence of an IELTS score may limit your options.
In order to be eligible to apply for Australian PR, an individual needs at least 60 points.
Of these 60 points, a maximum of 20 points can be obtained through English language proficiency: either IELTS or TOEFL.
Dear Vishal,
IELTS minimum score band requirement is 6.5 and every individual nodule should not be less than 6.0, both for study purpose and immigration purpose as well.
Apart from that your visa also depends on your age, work experience, qualifications, second language (English, French) and many more formalities.
Hope you got your answer.
Good luck :)
For IELTS coaching you can look in your area for Jamboree, Manya or Princeton Review affiliated coaching centers as well as the British Council which is the official enterprise for IELTS examinations.
On the other hand, self study for IELTS is also possible within the time frame of a month as an abundance of preparation material is available online.
1. If you still have around 2 months before you plan to give your IELTS examination, then it would be best for you to work on your vocabulary through the book 'Word Power Made Easy' which is easily available on Flipkart or Amazon for around INR 200.
2. Prepare for the reading and writing sections from the IELTS sample questions and additional material which is provided by the British council upon registration for the IELTS examination. These questions should be sufficient preparation if you have previously studied English in your senior secondary examinations.
3. For the listening and speaking section, go to the IELTS official YouTube channel and watch all the videos available on these sections. If you want to cement your confidence then also watch all the listening and speaking section videos given on the official TOEFL YouTube channel and practice alongside the video exercises.
4. Download the Magoosh vocabulary builder application on your mobile and complete all of the TOEFL vocabulary words. Further work on your vocabulary through one of the integral GRE word lists: the Baron's 333 list. If you know these words, and are able to incorporate them into your writing section, you are bound to get high scores.
5. For additional tips on preparation for the IELTS, check out this article: https://studyabroad.careers360.com/articles/ielts-preparation-tips
6. Finally, British Council also provides sample papers for the IELTS. Once you have completed your preparation then take the sample paper a couple days before your scheduled IELTS exam to pinpoint on some last minute areas for you to work on.
