Question : Directions: A word is represented by only one set of numbers as given in any one of the alternatives. The sets of numbers given in the alternatives are represented by two classes of alphabets as in the two matrices, given below. The columns and rows of Matrix (I) are numbered from 0 to 4 and that of Matrix (II) are numbered from 5 to 9. A letter from these matrices can be represented first by its row and next by its column, e.g., C can be represented by 55, 69, etc, and D can be represented by 59, 68, etc. Similarly, you have to identify the set for the word, ROUND.
Option 1: 02, 57, 67, 23, 95
Option 2: 34, 66, 58, 33, 95
Option 3: 20, 56, 99, 33, 77
Option 4: 11, 75, 59, 42, 86
Correct Answer: 34, 66, 58, 33, 95
Solution : Given: ROUND
Number representations of each letter – R→02, 11, 20, 34, 43 O→57, 66, 75, 89, 98 U→58, 67, 76, 85, 99 N→01, 10, 24, 33, 42 D→59, 68, 77, 86, 95
Let's check the options – First option: 02, 57, 67, 23, 95 – N can not be represented by 23. Second option: 34, 66, 58, 33, 95 – All the letters of the word ROUND can be represented through this option. Third option: 20, 56, 99, 33, 77 – O can not be represented as 56. Fourth option: 11, 75, 59, 42, 86 – U can not be represented as 59.
So, only the second option consists of the numbers through which ROUND can be represented. Hence, the second option is correct.
