Both ITI and IIT are good in their field but if you want government job you should go for ITI because in India it is tough to find ITI Technicians. Si you should go for ITI after 12 .

ITI is a diploma course whereas IIT is a degree course. It takes about two years to complete the ITI course whereas through you have to do B. Tech degree which completes in 4 years. So the answer is crystal clear ovbiously a degree will take you to higher levels rather than a diploma. Also the IIT exam is a very hard nut to crack so you have to prepare accordingly.
