During winter, the subtropical jet stream tends to be more active in the Northern Hemisphere. It is located at higher altitudes compared to the polar jet stream. The subtropical jet stream is typically around 9,000 to 13,000 meters above sea level, or 9–13 km above sea level. In India, during the winter months, the subtropical jet stream often plays a crucial role in influencing weather patterns.
Question : Select the option that expresses the given sentence in passive voice.
Somebody is following us.
Option 1: Somebody had been following us.
Option 2: Somebody is following us.
Option 3: We have been following by somebody.
Option 4: We’re being followed by somebody.
Correct Answer: We’re being followed by somebody.
Solution : The correct choice is the fourth option.
Passive voice is the voice in which the object experiences an action rather than the person who performs the action. Hence, the object in the active sentence becomes the subject in the passive voice.
The structure of the passive voice in the case of the present continuous tense is plural object + are + being + past participle form of the verb + by followed by the agent of the action.
Therefore, the sentence in the passive voice is: We’re being followed by somebody.
