It would be very useful if you can checkout the last year cutoffs .as per the last year cutoff you should score 26-30 marks .but at this marks you won't be able to get any good NIT or IIT .so try scoring above 50 .checkout the last year cutoffs of NITs and IITs .checkout this article .hope it helps

Yes you can. Many vacancies for Junior research fellow in projects are out in ISRO which demands MSc in geology. Apart if you are good at GIS or Remote sensing concepts and Software for data analysis its an added advantage for you. The cut off depends on a lot of factors.According to IIT JAM 2019 the closing ranks for general category in IITs are given below :
IIT Kharagpur - 47
IIT Bhubaneswar - 116
These are the closing ranks after round 3.So there are chances that you might get admission but keep in mind that the cut offs vary every year.

With a rank that is 200+ , it is very tough to get admission in IIT for geology, if you are a general category candidate.
