i had appeared for jee main 2019. Also, i had applied for jee main 2020 but not appeared. According to new rules candidates can attempt jee main only twice. Will i able to attend jee main 2021?

ARYAN SAGAR 21st Dec, 2020
Dear student,

In jee mains the maximum number of attempts allowed are three. You first attempt is counted as over in the year that you have passed your class 12th. After that you can maximum find into two attempts in next consecutive years.

In the information bulletin it is clearly written that - Only those candidates who have passed Class 12 equivalent examination in 2019, 2020 or 2021 OR those who are appearing in Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2021, are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2021.

So, as you have passed your class 12th in 2019 then you can give jee mains 2021. And this will be your last attempt of jee mains. After jee mains 2021 you can not give any more jee mains.

Abhishek Roy 21st Dec, 2020

You can appear for JEE Advanced 2021, assuming you are from General Category and had passed Class XIIth in the year 2020. But as far as the qualification is concerned you may have to reappear for JEE Mains in 2021 as the JEE Main 2020 score will no longer be valid.

I appeared for Jee main 2020 but did not qualify for Jee Adv 2020, so can i reappear for Jee main 2021 ,and am I elligible for Jee Adv 2021 if qualified in Jee main 2021

Anurag Khanna 18th Dec, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

As per the latest pattern of JEE-Main released by National Testing Agency (NTA) a candidate can attempt for maximum of three consecutive years which include the year of passing as well. It means that if you are passing your class 12th in 2020 then you are eligible for JEE-Main 2020 and all four attempts of JEE-Main 2021 and 2022 and also eligible for JEE-Advance 2020 and 2021 only. So if you are eligible for JEE-Main 2021 (it does not matter whether you have qualified JEE-Main 2020 or not) and appears in it and gets qualified for JEE-Advance 2021 then you can appear in JEE-Advance 2021 as well.

On December 16th 2020 the application process for JEE-Main 2021 February attempt has been started by National Testing Agency (NTA) which is the conducting authority for JEE-Main 2021. You can apply for JEE-Main from the official portal of JEE-Main which is given below :-

https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/webinfo2021/Page/Page?PageId=1&LangId=P

Note that this application process will continues till January 16th 2021 and last date for payment of application fee is January 17th 2021 after which neither application nor application fee will be accepted and then after the correction window will be opened for the applicants from January 19th to January 21st 2021. Admit cards will be available for download from second week of February 2021 and the examination will be conducted from February 23rd to February 26th 2021 in two shifts per day, for February attempt.

A candidate will also have option to apply for one Session or more than one Session (February/ March /April /May 2021) together and pay exam fee accordingly. In other words, if a candidate wishes to apply only for one Session, he / she has to pay Examination Fee only for that Session during the current application period and will have opportunity to apply again for the March/ April / May Sessions.

To qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate percentage criteria but yes if you want to take admission into NITs, IIITs or CFTIs then you should score a minimum aggregate of 75% in your class 12th if you belongs to General/Unreserved category and 65% if you belongs to any of the reserved category.

Also from this year according to New Education Policy the JEE-Main examination will be conducted in English, Hindi and other regional languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Odia and Malayalam.

In JEE-Main 2021 there will be two sections for each subject, Section-A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section-B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value.

In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.

All question will be of 4 marks and in MCQs there will be negative marking of (-1) on incorrect attempt.

This year JEE-Main is being conducted with slight changes in it's pattern and it's conduction and you can check out all the changes from the link given below :-

I hope this information helps you.
