Hey ,I would recommend Puri sharma of you are  in 11th 12th to make your concepts strong,or else if your concepts are clear you can go for atkins also. 

So basically if you want to buold a strong foundation and make your concepts clear then go for Puri sharma patania.

actually the syllabus a changed a bit but not that much . i think solving previous year paper is quite usefull and rather i will say it is important as well to solve the previous years papers . i will suggest you to buy arihants previous years IIT

i hope your are quetioning about jam exam. IIT JAM is a computer based online examination . there is no option of pen paper based paper . students have to give the exam online in one of the two slots of the day and then a merit list
