Hello Aspirant,
As per your query, following are the eligibility criteria that students are required to fulfill.

*Either appearing or already passed final examination of a qualifying degree.*
If you have qualified for the 2022 JAM exam, you can apply for provisional admission.
You have to fulfill all these eligibility criteria to get admission in IIT.
As per the criteria I think you cannot get admission in second year directly even after qualifying IIT JAM. For more reference you can eligibility criteria for the same.

Dear Aspirant,
Yes, you can start your preparation from 1st year itself. First of all, you have to check the syllabus of Physics and then prepare accordingly.
Second thing is that you have to be equally focused on each chapter and clear all your concepts. Some of the chapters will be in the second or third year of your course curriculum.
Then after that check out the previous year's question papers in the link given below and see the types of questions you can expect in the exam.

You can also go for coaching as it will help you a lot and clear your basic concepts and doubts. These classes conduct mock tests and exams to prepare you well for the exam.
I hope it helps.
Thank you

The language of IIT JAM examination is English and will always be. If you want a question paper in English and Hindi both then you have to look for BHU-PET (Post Graduate Eligibility Test of Banaras Hindu University).
You can choose one or two subjects for IIT JAM examination, but the subjects you choose must not be in the same session. The exam will be conducted in two sessions. So, you have to select the subjects according to the two sessions.
Hope this helps
Wish you luck
