See as every year toughness of paper is different for jee aspirant so its always difficult for us to give a specific marks to get selected in jee .
But for sure from last years the cutoff had gone low towards 74 marks for general candidate so

Dear Aspirant,

Absolutely yes. You have to clear JEE mains in order to get into jee advanced. The results of JEE both mains and advanced are valid for only one year.

If you want to give advanced 2020 then you must have to clear the JEE mains 2020.

Students didnt clear jee advance in 2019 but passed in board and are going to repeate jee advance in 2020 should again have to give board

Hello,
It is not at all necessary to reappear for board exams if you want to reappear for jee advanced. But if you feel your 12th score isn't good, then it is upto you.

hey lakshmi,

A candidate gets a maximum of two attempts in consecutive years to appear for JEE Advanced.Considering 

that they did not appear for jee advanced 2017 or earlier to that year.

For getting admission in IIST banglore you really need lots of marks for admission.  For getting it you need score of more than 40% in jee advanced paper if it is hard. Else cutoff will be still higher. And for jee mains rank under 4000 will be safe

Jee mains can be given 3 times and jee advanced can be given only 2 times. The year of passing does not matter. If you have not given mains thrice and advanced twice then you can surely go for the examinations. You will get admission in nits, iiit, gftis through
