It is not necessary for the student to own bank account for JOSAA counselling. The bank account of the parents will also do. The bank account details are required in case of refunds. So, there is no as such hard and fast rule to own an account

Since you are a Sc candidate, the colleges have reserved seats for Sc candidates. For example if a college has a total of 100 seats then only 13 to 14 seats would be reserved for Sc so there is a less chance for you to upgrade your branch
