I have GMR of 8699 and SC rank IS 563. Which branch of JU will I will get after spot round or decentralised counselling?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 14th Aug, 2021

Hi

In wbjee all the seats are alloted on the basis of GMR rank and not your category rank.

This is very difficult to predict because cut off keeps changing every year depending upon a number of factors like

--------) number of students that appeared in the WBJEE exam

--------)difficulty level of the WBJEE examination

--------)Kind of marks obtained by the students in the WBJEE exam

--------) number of students from different categories

--------) seats available for different branches etc

But yes,

With your 8699 GMR  , considering your category as sc

On the basis of 2020, wbjee cut  off data , you  have good chances in Jadavapur university in following branches

  • Metallurgical Engineering:-9445

  • Engineering/Power Plant Engineering:-10789

  • Printing Engineering/Printing Technology:-12289

  • Food Technology And Bio Chemical Engineering:- 12107

As per 2020 cut off available at Official website :- https://admissions.nic.in/wbjeebcouns2019/wbjeebcouns2019/orcr/PrevYearORCR.aspx

My GMR is 44406 and OBC A rank is 2347.Can i get admission in pharmacy at JU in such rank?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 8th Aug, 2021

Hello,

Last year a candidate with rank 4488 belonging to OBC-A category secured admission to B.Pharmacy in Jadavpur University. Considering the previous year cut off you have decent chances of getting seat in B.Pharmacy in Jadavpur University. However, cut off is subjected to change, it may increase or decrease depending on the total number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc.

I got 267 gmr in Wbjee and from up . Is there any chance for getting IT branch in JU.

Purbayan Chatterjee 8th Aug, 2021

Hi Ravi,

That's a great rank you have achieved and a big congrats for the same.

Coming to your question, with the WBJEE rank (267) in hand, you do stand a chance in getting IT in JU. However, nothing can be guaranteed at this stage.

Counselling is done in 3 rounds, and usually cut off in the first round is very high. So don't bother yourself seeing the cut-offs in the first two rounds. Do have patience till the 3rd round, you might just qualify.

Considering the worst case scenario, if you miss it by a whisker, do not get demotivated, you can always get into the next best college in your agenda with the rank at hand. And if you are passionate about JU, then even if you don't get IT (worst case scenario), you will definitely qualify for other branches (EE, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation, so on and so forth...)

All the best.

my obc-A rank is wbjee 2021 is 2800 can I get IT branch in JU

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 7th Aug, 2021

Hi

What is your GMR i. e general rank?

In wbjee all the seats are alloted on the basis of GMR rank and not your category rank.

Anyway,

This is very difficult to predict because cut off keeps changing every year depending upon a number of factors like

--------) number of students that appeared in the WBJEE exam

--------)difficulty level of the WBJEE examination

--------)Kind of marks obtained by the students in the WBJEE exam

--------) number of students from different categories etc

But yes,

For Jadavpur University  i. e JU your   rank should have been at least around 1800 being from OBC - A for IT

For example,

In 2019 , in 3rd round of wbjee, 1897 general rank for oBc - A category  was the closing rank for  Jadavpur University for IT

my gmr rank is 3559 and tfw rank is 602.can I get jadavpur university? In first round of counselling i got Haldia college, bit when I checked the OR and CR of JU chemical engineering (tfw),I saw that its (tfw)CR is 916.then why I didnt get there with tfw rank 602

Raj Rakshit 20th Aug, 2021

Dear Aniruddha,

Congratulations on getting chance in Haldia college. In case of Jadavpur university please note that your Gmr is considered while admission, not your tfw ranking.

So as per statistics your Gmr is greater than the closing  ranking of Jadavpur university hence you are not eligible. You can check the cut-off details and previous year trends of Jadavpur university in the link below:
