Hello,The closing ranks for biomedical engineering at Anna University in 2018 was 1886. Looking at that, you may not be able to get a seat in biomedical engineering at Anna University.
Hello Dhanu,
Biomedical in India is still a growing and a vast field. It provides solutions to medical problems using technology.
And yes, there is a scope in this field but its success or failure will depend upon your own interest and acquired right skills.
First of all, there is a research scope for which you will need to qualify GATE.
There are a few Job Scopes like -
1. R&D- Generally the R&D companies hire employees through campus placements from a small group of colleges. Good luck for that. The health tech industry in Andhra & Telangana is a bright prospect in future when it comes to R&D opportunities.
2. Service- You get to learn a lot about the internal functioning of various medical devices.
3. Application Engineer- They work hand in hand with sales team to explain to customers the working of any medical devices.
4. Sales Engineer- Sales of medical equipment are handled by the sales engineer
5. Hospital Engineer- Every big hospital has a Biomedical department in which there are typically 5–6 engineers who are responsible to attend to emergency breakdown of any medical equipments.
I hope it helped!
Thank you:)
biomedical students at IIT bhu get placed mainly in software companies like WIPRO, INFOSYS, ACCENTURE. etc. Even most of the students irrespective of departments gets placement in software mainly because of bigger Pascale and the number of companies visiting the campus.
The number of core companies visiting the campus is apparently much less than the software companies.
Payscale for biomedical, mining, metallurgy, biochemical, chemical branches is almost similar varying between 8 to 14 LPA.
Hi neha
Building is a field of use of logical ideas and standards, in actuality. Utilization of logical idea to take care of day by day life issues is an essential part of building thinks about independent of the stream.
Biomedical Engineering is one such stream of building which uses designing information and aptitudes to help discover arrangements identified with restorative and organic issues. It is a multi-disciplinary subject which joins learning of different designing spaces like electrical, gadgets, PC, and instrumentation to use it in a commonsense sense at the natural level.
The four-year designing course in the space targets furnishing the BE graduates with all the information and ability concerning this multi-disciplinary subject thus, that they can execute themselves viably in the activity showcase just as are prepared appropriately to confront the difficulties that industry offers.

Biomedical Engineering (BME) is a research oriented branch and hence no opportunity is available as job in India. I am a Biomedical Engineer and many of my juniors, and classmates who qualified B.Tech in BME, they all are doing the similar jobs. Working as SALES EXECUTIVE or SERVICE ENGINEER for some Biomedical Instrument providing company they are giving service for the devices and demo to the new products launched.
Mechatronics is one of the best branches if one wants to be in an Robotics/ Electronics/ Automation Company / Manufacturing Automation field.
Hey aspirant, No it is not necessary to have a biology background in your 12th and 11th to opt for this course. As this course is entirely based upon applying the knowledge of other engineering tools (product design, basic electronics, Neural network and other programming language, Mechanical engineering) to solve the healthcare problems.
Hope this helps
Good luck
