For getting into engineering institutes of South you can take admission through tnea which is under the aegis of Anna University. The admission is done on the basis of your 12th marks. For other south institutes you can also give comedk exam to get into the Bangalore colleges.

The admission is based on merit in class 12th examination, the marks scored in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are considered. There isn't any entrance examination

Well if she has completed her high school in Kerela then I think she will be able to take benefits of state quota seats. Some states allow you to be domiciled if you have permanent residence in that state and ither states ask you to have completed your class
