But when it comes to your admission into B.Sc Economics Course, St. Xavier's College publish merit list which shows after the declaration of first merit list and final merit list, you will get an overview that you need to score around 90-95% to enable a seat for admission.
Based on your Maths Score which is good you have chances of getting B.Sc Economics but West Bengal Board students with this same marks will be ranked before you in the merit list. So yes competition would be there but you have fair chances of admission too.

The gap years matters more in the Software industry compared to that of the Pharmaceutical industries. If you are interested for going to a job, I would recommend you to apply off campus in different openings available through different job offering platforms. If you have good knowledge about the field, then I would say it would not be a big deal to get a job.

Last year the cut off for admission to B.Sc Economics (Hons) in ST. Xavier's College, Kolkata was 171 marks for candidates who have passed class 12th from CBSE board with Science Stream and 172 marks for candidates who have passed class 12th The formula from CBSE board with Commerce and Arts Stream. The formula to calculate the merit for B.Sc Economics is 75% of Marks scored in (Mathematics+overall aggregate)+ 25% of Marks scored in Mathematics. Total is out of 175 marks. You haven't mentioned your stream, marks scored in Mathematics and over aggregate marks. Please use the above mentioned formula to calculate the marks. If your score is above 171 or 172 marks depending on your stream then you have good chances of getting admission. This year the cut off may vary depending on total number of candidates applied for admission, highest marks scored, total number of seats available.

There are no management quota seats in Medical College, Kolkata. There are a total of 250 seats, out of which 15% seats (around 38 seats) are under All India Quota, and the remaining 85% seats (around 212 seats) are under State Quota.
