Ill be finishing my 10th STD. My interest is to pursue Clinical Psychology, can you advise me with selecting the group in my 11th STD ?? Secondly, best available institutions in Chennai for learning Psychology

theeanonymous 4th Jan, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Good to see that you have identified your career interest as this will help you stay focused on your goal. Psychology is a good and noble career option , its demand is growing well in India . And outside India you will have wider scope and it is a highly recognized profession. To become a clinical psychologist, you will have to take  PhD in the same. You can either start your own practice or work in a good hospital along with a psychiatrist.Usually the group in 11th and 12th will not matter when it comes to graduation in psychology. This is because ,at the graduation level you will be studying psychology from the very basic. All you need in an interest and passion for the subject. But some universities may prefer science students with biology in 11th and 12th for admission to BSc Psychology. But if your school offers science or humanities group with psychology subject option , then choose that.

Below are some good colleges for Psychology:

Women`s Christian College, [WCC] Chennai

Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai

Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed Womens College, [JBASWC] Chennai

Madras School of Social Work, [MSSW] Chennai

Presidency College, Chennai

(https://www.getmyuni.com/college/women-s-christian-college-wcc-chennai) Note that you interest towards the subject, dedication and passion will matter more than college education. More than graduation, the college you choose for masters and PhD institution are important.

which stream is better PCM /PCB because I am really confused? some of my family members says PCB is hard and it is lengthy and its all about memorization and learning while PCM is all logical and thinking stream. some says that PCB / doctor have much chances of getting jobs and private clinics

Prachi Pant 3rd Jan, 2021

Hello student,

The first point you need to understand about choosing the stream is that, never do it under any parental or peer pressure, choose the stream as per your interest. When you find the subjects interesting then only you can enjoy learning and grasping things keeping into your knowledge.

All the streams ( Arts, Commerce and Science ) have scopes and ample of opportunities for student who are willing to accomplish in life. First of all, decide your aim. Then explore about it. Choosing the stream after this brief consideration will help you to build your career.

All the courses have different eligibility criteria. So as per your aim and future career you will have to choose the stream.

The chance of getting a job doesn't depends upon the stream but upon one's choice of course and other factors ( additional qualifications, past experience, interests, achievements and certificates) . So choose your stream carefully.

Thanks
