how much syllabus are come in m SC life science intrence exam

Pompi Bhadra 7th Apr, 2020
Hello Tarun!

As you have not mentioned name of the institution for which your are preparing to get admission in M.Sc. Life Science, it will be a little difficult to tell you the exact syllabus.
But basically, for all the M.Sc. Life Science entrance tests, questions from your B.Sc. syllabus will be asked.
You may also find one section of General English, G.K., Reasoning in the exam for some institutes comprising of 20-25 marks (like Rajiv Gandhi University). But the highest weightage will be given to Zoology and Botany. Equal number of questions may come from both the subjects (eg. Dibrugarh University).
So, revise your whole UG syllabus thoroughly and in addition to this, go once through the entire biology syllabus of Class 11th and 12th. It will help you.

Feel free to ask if you have any more queries.

My gate score 2020 is 608 at 338 rank in life science. What are the chances of getting M.tech seat in biomedical engg. or biotech in IITs.

Maria Sunny 20th Mar, 2020

Hello,

GATE cutoff for IITs and NITs vary every year. The cut off marks according to GATE 2019 for Biotechnology is given below :

IIT Kharagpur :

General - 713.1 , SC /ST - 499.5 , OBC - 524.2

IIT Guwahati :

General - 601 , SC/ST - 354 , OBC - 459

You do have a chance in IIT Kharagpur and IIT Guwahati for Biotechnology. But in the case of Biomedical Engineering , GATE score>= 625 (General )is required for candidates who have an MSc or equivalent in Life Sciences. For candidates belonging to EWS and OBC NCL category GATE score >= 575 is required and for SC/ST or PH candidates GATE score >= 500 is required. These cut offs are based on short listing criteria for GATE 2019.

There is no specific syllabus for life sciences. You will be tested in Basic Knowledge of core subjects of life and biological sciences. The exam will have subject specific questions in different branches of life sciences taught at B.Sc level. The exam will be loosely based on UGC appproved syllabus.
