In order to take admission in VNIT Nagpur you have to appear for JEE Main exam.
According, to previous year cut off you should score more then 140 marks in JEE Main to get VNIT Nagpur in general category other state quota.

Outside Maharashtra students can appear for MHT CET. Outside Maharashtra Student won't be eligible for Government and Govt. Aided colleges, they will be eligible for All India Seats of Private colleges. However All India Candidature candidates may or may not appear for MHT-CET 2018 as Score of JEE(Main) Paper I

CET pattern is more or less predictable, unlike CAT. So most of the test series follow the pattern. But the CET varies with difficulty levels with the cutoffs for JB varying from 120 to 165. So it is ideal that one should write mocks of varying difficulty levels.
