Is frm course tough to take up?

dhameerbhatia31_7970609 Student Expert 30th Jun, 2019

Hello,

Honestly, it is a tough exam but in my opinion, if your preparation and exam day strategy is good the exam can turn out to be amazing. They main problem with exam takes place if you are not well prepared which will affect your answers. Secondly, you have had not enough practice which affects your speed and the strategy to tackle the questions in the exam.

Exams like FRM and CFA are mainly dependent on your practice. How well you practice, how deep you go into topics and how much you practice.

I honestly used to study and practice together because that seemed to be the best way to learn and retain the topic in your memory so that if you re-visit that topic some day later you know how you tackled that topic’s questions.

Nowadays, there are so many practice prep providers who are specialized in practice of such exam with state of the art platform (adaptive platform) like PrepSmarter and AdaptPrep are widely used as they master your practice.

Providers like Schweser, Wiley and Bionic Turtle provide some good quality notes which will help you prepare for the exam which I guess you must be familiar already.

Thanku.

If I have 6 years gap after B.Tech from UPTU but I score 99% percentile in CAT 2019. Will I get admission in IIM Lucknow?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 20th Aug, 2019
Dear Himanshu, you haven't mentioned your Category. Neverthless, IIM Lucknow has a 3 stage Selection process; Written Ability Test, Personal Interview and Final Selection. Candidates will be shortlisted based on CAT score, Academic performance and other Criteria. You havent mentioned if you have been working for the past 6 years because PGP-SM course prefers a minimum of 24 months as  working experience.  In 2018, the percentile cut offs have been as follows:
                              QA                DLR            VARC        Overall
General               85                  85                 85                90
NC-OBC              77                  77                 77                82
SC                        55                  55                 55                70
ST                        50                  50                  50               65
PwD                    50                  50                  50                65

For being shortlisted for Written Ability Test and Personal Interview, the following chart is followed on a composite score of 100:
Scaled CAT Score:                                   60
12th marks:                                              10
Graduation:                                              10
Work Experience:                                   10
Diversity Factor for Academics:           5
Diversiry Factor for Gender:                  5

Method of scoring can be found on the official website. Those candidates who are eligible after these 2 roumds are called for Written Ability and Personal Interview Test. The final score is calculated based on this scale:

  • Common Admission Test:  30
  • Academic Performance (12th  + Graduation): 5+5
  • Diversity Factor (DF academics +DF gender): 5
  • Work Experience: 5
  • Writing Ability Test: 10
  • Personal Interview: 40
  • Final Score: 100

The minimum marks that you need to score in Personal Interview are 12 out of 40. Considering all this, if you score 99% in CAT, you will be eligible for further rounds. And you should score good in every round of interview to really get into IIM Lucknow.

Is ews useful for management quota(b cat) seats

Ketaki Dhotre Student Expert 30th Jun, 2019

Dear,

Management Quota means these seats are reserved for those people who actually didnt qualify the eligibility criteria for getting a seat in college but are willing to spend almost two to four times the actual fee of the college. It is like the direct admission process in colleges. So being any category student( EWS/ SC/ST/OBC) won't help in here. You need to pay whatever fees they ask for. So, ews is not applicable in here.

Hope this helps!

how many seats are available in management quota ?

Tamajit Biswas Student Expert 30th Jun, 2019

Hi Ramansh,

Firstly do take note of the fact that the number of seats available under Management Quota is entirely subjected to availability that is there is no guarantee that if you spend the bucks then you are to get the seats as they may get filled even before you apply, thus don't aim or rely your admission through management quota.

Now to answer your question, in most universities the number of seats available under management quota is 10 percent of the total seats available in that particular university under the particular course. For example, if a college has 100 seats for the CSE department then 10 seats of the 100 seats would be under management quota.

BEST WISHES!

I got admission in a college in keam 1st allotment in management quota of a cape college but I decided to participate in 2nd allotment

Subodh Mittal 30th Jun, 2019
Hi

If you take admission through management quota then you cant change your college according to your own will.
If you leave a college once after paying the amount then the amount is not returned plus you are not given admission back in that college.

How much there is to earn after getting job as tour guide?

saranya 29th Jun, 2019

It depends entirely on your country and the level of experience you have. Also, what is your line of expertise.Guides in adventure travel market earns more than a historical/city tour guide because of the nature of their job. At entry level you may not make much but guides significantly make more on the sides like tips and where they have good relationship with the local water holes. And if you are fun and engaging, you can rise up pretty quickly.

Good luck!!
