Manufacturing Engineering
Hi aspirant,
At first congratulations on the start of your journey at Vellore Institute of technology. Yes you can change your branch from mechanical engineering to Information technology or any others through the student program migration window.
This window is available after the end of first and second semesters respectively any student eligible for it can apply for it by filling up the form available at the institution itself. The number of transfers is 2 percent of the total seats available in the program. You will get an email after the first semester explaining the complete procedure.
Note- You will need a CGPA of 8.5 and even higher to be able to complete migration as there is tough competition in that window and transfers are merit based.
Hope it helps!!

Dear Aspirant,
Anna University is one of the top institutes where you may pursue your course of choice in Manufacturing Engineering. However, there are chances for other universities or institutes to be better than Anna University. As you have not specified in your query which private universities you are talking about, it is hard to give the appropriate details as to what might be a better option. Hence it is recommended that you do proper research into the universities and choose one which is bets suited for you.
Hello Gaurang,
Vellore institute of technology (VIT), is an AICTE approved college with NAAC A grade. Since you have mentioned the specialization I'm guessing you are talking about M.Tech however your bio says you are currently in 12th so I will provide information on both Btech mechanical engineering as well as M.Tech mechanical engineering in manufacturing engineering.
M.Tech mechanical engineering in manufacturing engineering is a two years long full time post graduate degree course. About 60% students get placed every year from this stream of engineering from VIT. Highest package offered was 30 LPA for the previous year. Average package offered was 6-7 LPA. The top recruiters include Amazon, PayPal, Intel, Reliance etc.
Btech mechanical engineering is a four years long undergraduate degree course. Highest package offered was 9-12 LPA. The average package offered was 4-5 LPA. Mostly IT companies recruit from Btech candidates.
Hope this helps and Good luck
