In the field of marine engineering what are the difficulties faced by a female aspirant ?

muskan.sunitaydv_9765333 Student Expert 17th Jul, 2019

Hello there,

some of the difficulties faced by female candidates are:

Male dominated industry: Shipping has historically been a male dominated industry and that tradition runs long. One of the reasons as to why women have never taken this career option very seriously is this fact.

No or less support: Women generally do not receive adequate support (Both from family and society) to choose seafaring as their career. Educators often do not provide the necessary skills and support to help young women climb the shipping sector ladder

Less Acceptance By Companies: The difficulty of getting access to jobs and professional development in the maritime industry is also a reason for less women seafarers in the maritime sector. Lack of workplace support keeps women out of this career.

Hope this helps.

GOOD LUCK!!

Which is better to study marine engineering in Andhra university (or) petroleum engineering in JNTU, kakinada?

kartikjain2548 Student Expert 25th Aug, 2019

Hello,

Both the colleges have good reputation and the facilities offered are almost same. Both of the colleges have good infrastructure, complete ac rooms, wifi facilities etc.

The faculty is good at both the colleges. But at JNTU industry experts from companies like Indian oil, HPCL come to teach students.

From the placement point of view. At JNTU placements in core companies are almost negligible. Some mass recruiting software companies hire the students. But in AU marine engineering placements scenerio is good. Companies like indian navy, hindustan shipment limited hire the students.

Which college is better to study marine engineering in Andhra university (or) petroleum engineering in JNTU, kakinada?

Nakkina Sai Bhaskar Student Expert 22nd Aug, 2019

Dear,

I suggest you to pursue Petroleum Engineering in JNTU Kakinada rather than Marine Engineering in Andhra University. Eventhough Andhra University is top University, the opportunities for this stream are not good enough. So petroleum Engineering in JNTU Kakinada is better. Some Core companies visit the campus as well as few IT few companies recruit Petroleum Engineering students.
