For getting in admission in  bachelor of engineering in Marine engineering you have to give institute of marine time University common entrance test (IMUCET) it is compulsory examination to get admission in Marine engineering unless you take admission through management quota

The  answer is obviously Yes.Marine Engineering is a job oriented course . There are courses with diploma also but doing this course in B.E/Btech adds more value.It is also very important to select the college.while choosing marine engineering college check whether they are approved by the Director general

IIT and NIT colleges offering Marine Engineering courses (UG) are-

  • IIT Madras - B.Tech. Naval Achitecture and Ocean Engineering
  • IIT Kharagpur -  B.Tech. Naval Achitecture and Ocean Engineering

There is no NIT found for Marine Engineering courses.

According to the CUSAT 2018 prospectus, 5 percent of seats were reserved for B.Tech Marine Engineering (Residential) programme for NRI. There were 4 seats for NRI out of the total 80 seats.


For MSc (5 year Integrated) Photonics Programme, there were 2 seats for NRI.
