There are courses with diploma also but doing this course in B.E/Btech adds more value.It is also very important to select the college.while choosing marine engineering college check whether they are approved by the Director general

Dear Keshwanand, Yes you can persue M.tech in Marine Engineering From "MERI" Kolkata even after you persued your B.tech from Mechanical Engineering. Here you can find that in this college which is affiliated by "IMU" (Indian Maritime University) which conduct their own exam for UG and PG courses i.e. IMU-CET

According to the CUSAT 2018 prospectus, 5 percent of seats were reserved for B.Tech Marine Engineering (Residential) programme for NRI. There were 4 seats for NRI out of the total 80 seats.
For MSc (5 year Integrated) Photonics Programme, there were 2 seats for NRI.
