What if someone fail in one subject of second year of MBBS supplementary exam , is he or she able to continue third year with one back exam ?

Hello,
During MBBS if someone fails in main University exams he/she has to give supplementary exam after 4-6months and if the candidate fails in this supplementary exam he has to repeat the whole year.
