ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 2nd Jan, 2021

Hi

Predicting the colleges in which you can get  a seat is difficult as  cut off marks /rank for  keeps changing every year  depending upon various factors like  number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the neet mds examination etc.

But when we go through previous data then you have chances for following Government College under 50% all India quota with 255 all india rank :-

* Government Dental College Thiruvananthapuram - Orthodontics

*Rajah Muthiah Dental College and Hospital, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar - Orthodontics

* Post graduate Institute of Dental Sciences Rohtak - preventive and social dentistry

And a few more

Above prediction is on the basis of past year data  but  cutoff keeps changing every year due to many factors as mentioned earlier, so to have a better picture of the colleges in which you have chances and
to get the complete list of colleges in which you have chances, you can go through our college neet mds predictor at

It gives you a personalized report with top college in which you have chances for admission , with the help of predicted colleges you can make better choice while filling your choices of colleges during your counselling

I had completed bds and i have 1 year clinical experience shall i purse mds course in india or shall i do any other clinical course in other country ?(which clinical course ll be best in aborad) ? I seriously want to do my masters in best clinical department.

daniasufian2000 30th Dec, 2020

Hello..

Unfortunately in india for a dentist in the beginning it is not a cakewalk(off course same in other professions also). We need to struggle to get a good position aftermath. This is because of various reasons lack of awareness among the people, lot of investment for setting up of clinic, lot of practitioners giving a good competition etc.,

But there is a good scope for us to excel in this field where it demands our passion, enthusiasm in learning daily, skill of motivating patients.

Now coming to the topic what to do after BDS, there are many ways to shape your career as listed below:-

  1. Setting up a Clinic : Yes its good to set up a clinic if you are confident in dealing the patients. If not work under a senior practitioner until u get a good experience. Its better to do diploma courses on endo or implants. Get a consultant for critical cases where you cant handle. But setting up a clinic takes time for you earn.
  2. Pursuing MDS:- This is the traditional way. This has better aspects than BDS and PG helps you to fetch you a job in a college if you are strong in academics and have a passion to teach. This adds extra beauty if you setup a clinic you can also become a consultant(Only in certain Depts. like OMFS,ENDO,ORTHO etc.,)
  3. Write NBDE exams:- This is bit tough But you can clear it with Determination, needs a good financial background. You can pursue DDS Abroad by clearing it. Very good option to Practice Abroad.
  4. Practice in Middle East:- Yes practice in middle east countries like Saudi arabia, Dubai and Singapore etc., But for this You need to have preferably MDS and minimum 3 years exp.,and you need to clear their Dental council exam to practice.
  5. Government Jobs:- you get a job in Government Hospitals as a general dentist in state govt Hospitals and also in Army, Navy, Railways etc., But These are very less and you have lots of competition.
  6. Study MBA:-For this you need to Appear for CAT Exams and score well.

    1. Study Masters in Public Health:- For this you need to clear GRE exam and get selected for the best universities abroad. by this way you can also prepare for DDS. If you want to settle abroad. This Method is financially Hectic.
    2. Prepare for Govt. exams:- Yes Prepare for most privileged exam like UPSC to gain entrance into Civil Services and other services. You can also prepare for SSC,SBI PO, IBPS PO etc.,
    3. Become an entrepreneur :- Yes Start a Dental Chain with the help of Your friends And well wishers. But this requires lot of Hard work And vigilance.
  7. Conclusion:-

Now Concluding there is No Certain Way like “Best Option” after Bds. It depends on your interest and priorities. Think for your Future and talk to yourself for what you want to be. Select a way and act accordingly without loss in Hope. So one Day you Succeed. But don’t Regret for your choice later.

    Hope this helps You……….

If you want to apply for pwd seats in the counselling then you have to show a government pwd certificate. Yes you need to have a dissability certificate but if you want to apply for pwd seats for that you have to make pwd certificate from the CMO Offfice which assigns authoritites for check up and then approve you for the pwd certificate.

You can visit below link for how to apply for the pwd certificate:

hi I am going to write MDS NEET this dec I am planning to give passport as ID Proof but in passoport our surnames will be elobarted and this wont match our Name given in BDS Registration certificate rgt ? will there be any ambiguity ?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 28th Oct, 2020

You can always get an affidavit done. But to be honest, it is understood that Passport does have elaborated names and that is why other details like date of Birth, parent's name, address are also verified. And so it is not an issue if you want to upload your passport as your Id proof. But to be on a safer side, you can always get an affidavit done stating that both the names belong to you. It wont be necessary but during Counselling, you can show this affidavit.

what would be the minimum rank to get a govt seat in mds for female gen candidate

theeanonymous 28th Oct, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

For general category the original cutoff was 286 which is the 50th percentile but then later due to the insufficiency in the number of qualified candidates it was further reduced to 220 which is 31.065th percentile.Coming to your question , the seats are divided as 50% all India quota and 50% state quota seat and under AIQ , for general category you need a minimum rank of around 300-360 to get a govt.college but the branches available might be limited. If it is below 300 then it is easier to get the desired branch.

Some colleges you may get with a good rank of 300-350 are :

Government Dental College, Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak

King George's Medical University, Lucknow

Government Dental College, Thiruvananthapuram

Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai

Nair Hospital Dental College, Mumbai

Government Dental College and Research Institute, Bangalore

To see the full list use the NEET MDS college predictor tool, you may check based on your rank.
