Communication systems has highest scope becaise maximum opportunity for Telecommunications and Technology sector require communication engineering candidates into profiles like Network management, Network Software Orchestrations, Internet of Things, Network Deployment and Rollout, Supervision and Project Management, etc roles.

VLSI is mor einclined towards Chip manufacturers and has limited Opportunities.

After doing mtech in chemical engineering from iit one will easily gets job in various companies. There is a good career in researche field so you can pursue in that also. Also you can give gate exam for jobs in PSU, or go for teaching field in collges also you can pursue phd for further higher education.
