Backlogs or supply don't really matter because they just need a candidate who is capable of facing hardships at m.tech at IITs.But the main point is that you need to prove yourself in written test and PI(personal interview).Because a cgpa of >=6 is not so convincing,

The Placement is excellent in National Institute of technology in the state of Trichy,
Highest package is 32 lakh and the minimum package is 9 lakh.
Every year the rating of that colleges is increasing. So over all the placement cell is excellent.

Placement is a possibility in only high end IITs given the fact student is good, else, god knows what would happen.For instance, take case of IIT Delhi. The MTech placement record for mechanical was 69%
