It has been decided to admit more women from the 2018 academic session. The 20% supernumerary seats will be seperately available for women.
But this is just on a draft basis and no law has still been created. So till,now no preferences are given to females.

there are plenty of colleges that you can get admission in with mechanical branch, private as well as govt colleges-
1. GB Pant Government Engineering College, Delhi – GOVT
2. Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Delhi
3. Northern India Engineering College, Delhi
4. Delhi Institute of Tool Engineering,
You have a moderate chance to get into old NITs, but easily can get into newer NITs. You will also get mechanical in some old NITs.

Yes You will surely get mechanical engg in Institute of Engineering and Technology Devi Ahilya Vishawvidyalaya, Indore with home state quota. But maybe you have to wait for the round 1 upgrade or the round 2 or special round as there is very less chance of getting it
