for general category , to get a seat in any engineering college is difficult if the mentioned rank is securd .i suggest you better join the degree course rather than B.Tech.all the very best for your future.

My suggestion to you would be , being a mechanical engineer graduate you should opt for MTech rather than choosing MBA , if you get a good experience after doin MTech you would definately get salary hike in you domain.
