You should have to check the last year cutoff for 3rd or 4th round for mechanical at NIT Durgapur.

Hello aspirant,

Based on the rank you scored and taking your category into consideration, it may be quite difficult to get as the previous year cutoff for ece group was observed at a rank below 6000 and for mechanical it was 8000.

However you can expect seat like chemical engineering,

It’s difficult to tell you the exact about your admission possibilities but as per the previous year cutoff as an OBC category the chance seems less to get a seat in NITs, IIITs & GFTIs however you can try for state counseling like

1)Punjab University (PUCHD)

2) D.Y. Patil College

Firstly congratulations on getting selected to preparatory course .
As you asked getting selected in preparatory course doesn't mean you got the seat. So, if you do well in preparatory course then you will get a seat in mechanical branch of that college . So this can't be predicted, so

Hello aspirant ,
Doing mechanical or EEE from NITs is definitely a good option as compared to doing CSE or IT from average colleges as you do get a good starting package.
Moreover doing mechanical and electrical have some advantages of their own too such as govt. Jobs or startups
