As per your rank, it's extremely difficult for you to get civil branch in NIT kurukshetra. So your options must be Mechanical in NIT Silchar. As per the statics Mechanical branch has good placement rate at NIT silchar as compared to civil branch at NIT Kurukshetra.

To get the chances in IIT it is actually essential for having a good marks. But there is variation for different IITs.

For the core streams it is necessary to have minimum of 60%.
