Since the closing ranks for colleges are not available anywhere so I cannot really give you any suggestions regarding the colleges that you can get with this rank. I choose not to guess in this matter as it is a sensitive issue and beating about the bush isn't an option. 

Coming to your rank, it is a very good rank and with this rank you can get a seat in Osmania University, especially because you belong to BC-D category, which can prove advantageuos for you.

Placements in college are very good for all departments. But there are very few opportunities for mechanical to get placed.Placement is very limited but the intern is good. Many MNC companies come and interview which is an additional advantage . Though mechanical students gets placed rarely so it is good for information Science, computer Science and civil engineer. So ofcourse civil is better than that of mechanical.

Mechanical engineering at Jadavpur University, is a good option.

Very good placement records till now. More than 85% of the students get placed. Average package is above 6.5 LPA. Multiple offers are common thing. The department of mechanical engineering this year has got the highest package of 17 LPA, average is 7 LPA.

Facilities are world class. Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available. Labs are world class are totally functioning. All the equipments are modern. A huge central library is there with more than several Lacs of books. All the classes have projector, some classes are equipped with AC. There is a students' healthcare centre within the campus containing 50 beds, free healthcare is provided to all the students. A big playground is in the middle of the university. There is basketball court, tennis court, and swimming pool as well as indoor games facilities. Hostel rooms are moderate, but this is common when you expect all the facilities with such a less price. 

All the teachers are very much well trained. All have their Ph.D. degrees from respected Universities in India and abroad. They are very friendly and down to earth. Never hesitate to ask a question. Teaching quality is among the bests in India. All the students of JU have gained respect whenever they have gone for some specific works. AICTE curriculum is followed. Teachers emphasize on learning the concepts. You will get real world experience when you go for internships or trainings. Also in workshops you will get a touch of it.

Your rank in WBJEE is quite well. Considering the last year's cutoff there is tough chance for you to get admission in Jadavpur University, Kolkata in mechanical engineering as the closing rank last year was 771. But there are many other branches you can easily get admission in that are Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering and chemical engineering

Congratulations for your rank in WBJEE but with this rank you can not get admission in mechanical branch at Jadavpur University. 

As per the the previous years cut offs, the closing rank for mechanical was 489 in the first round and could extend upto 771 in the fourth round of counseling. Though the number of seats have increased this year, yet the chances are bleak. However you can get branches like power engineering, civil, metallurgical and chemical engineering.
