NIT Suratkal closing rank for HS Quota for mechanical for 2018 was: 40K for OBC NCL and around 17K for general.

So your rank being greater than the cutoff, is less likely to get a seat.

If the cutoff remains the same as the last year you will not able to get admission in Jadavpur University. Last year closing rank for mechanical was 771 but every year cutoff increase so there is a fair chance that you will get admission so don't lose hope
