If you want to do any software related then Uyou should go for CSE. But in ECE, some software related jobs are also available rather than mechanical branch.

I don't think so that you will have any software or computer course attached with Mechanical branch.as mechanical and computer engineering are totally 2 different things. But if you perform well in 1st year you can change your stream in 2nd year. Otherwise you can take certification in

It is somewhat possible for you to get your desired branch i.e mechanical, in NITs, though those NITs are not high ranked. The options being NIT Srinagar, Silchar, Nagaland and further more options. You could also get IIITs, and the case being that it is somewhere also possible
