It purely depends on which area you are interested in this defence forces.
If you are ECE engineer then you have options to join as regiment of EMae or crops of signals or even AAD ( army air defence)
If you are cs engineer then crops of signals.

But based on your rank and category irrespective of the exam you wrote you can definitely get into Universities in mechanical engineering

For prospects on your rank it is viable to get last year closing rank. National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur one last person got seat for home quota General category on 11202 rank and in National Institute of Technology, Raipur last person got admission for home quota General category
