Either you can go for B.tech in mechanical engineering or you can apply for government jobs based on your polytechnic degree a lot of vacancy exists in this.

You can also consider taking up B.tech while you look for government jobs, once you get a job put B.tech on hold

if we talk about NITs - NIT Rourkela, Trichy,surathkal

if we talk about private college/university - VIT, BITS Pilani, NSIT, Thapar Institute, DTU.

One cannot determine which Nit he or she will get on the basis of marks solely. It is decided after the ranklist is declared. Referring to the rank vs marks of last few years, getting into the mechanical branch of top 5 IITs is nearly impossible with 150 marks. You
