I would suggest mechanical at vit vellore, the only reason being vellore is better is that it might have a brand name. Apart from that you can do what interests you. If you want to pursue computers, (and the scope is more ) then that would be the right choice.

Cut-off for NORTH EAST state NITs are also above 550.
You can get GFTIs ,CFTIs with your score. You can get private institutions with your score.
