With 38.7 in GATE mechanical you will not get core mechanical branches in IITs or NITs like Thermal, Design, production, CAD/CAM. What you can get is interdisciplinary subjects like earth science, climiate change.

Hi dear, according to your percentile in jee mains your general rank will be approx 166k or 1.66lakh but it is predicted that the general cutoff will be 85 percentile so there is very less chance of getting any NIT.
