IIT roorkee mechanical vs iit ropar mnc

Prahvi Sharma 10th Jun, 2025

Comparing IIT Roorkee Mechanical and IIT Ropar Mechanical in terms of MNC placements:

  • IIT Roorkee has a long-established reputation with strong industry ties and typically sees higher placement rates and some very high salary offers in Mechanical. Many top MNCs like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs visit regularly.

  • IIT Ropar is newer but growing fast, with good connections to big MNCs too. Their average packages are competitive, especially in core branches, and companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google also recruit here.

But On Bottom line:
For Mechanical specifically, Roorkee generally has a slight edge in MNC placements and packages due to its longer legacy and network. But Ropar is catching up and offers great opportunities with some big names too.

Both are solid choices — if you want a more established brand and higher chances of top MNCs, go Roorkee. If you want to be part of a newer IIT with growing opportunities, Ropar is good too.

Anybody please help me , I got my preparatory st rank 228 in jee advanced 2025 and I am male candidate any chance to get any IIT core branch ( mechanical , civil and electrical ) acc. to previous year analysis and pleas dont give me fake hope

Tanisha chaudhary 6th Jun, 2025

HEY THERE!!!

  1. With a Preparatory ST rank of 228 in JEE Advanced 2025, realistically, your prospects for securing admission to core branches such as Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering at established IITs are quite slim .
  2. Historically, ST category seats for these core disciplines are filled by candidates with much lower ranks, often under 100.
  3. Preparatory ranks are only considered if there are vacancies after all eligible ST candidates have been allotted seats, which is uncommon—especially for high-demand branches.
  4. Typically, these opportunities arise in newer or less sought-after IITs and in branches that aren’t as competitive.

  • In summary, while admission to Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical at the older IITs is highly unlikely with your current preparatory rank, you may find options in non-core branches or at recently established IITs .
  • It’s important to keep expectations realistic and consider alternative branches or institutions.

I want to addmission in mechanical engineering

Sajal Trivedi 5th Jun, 2025

Hello aspirant,

In India, entrance exam results and Class 12 merit are used to determine admission to mechanical engineering programs.  Students that take mechanical engineering courses beyond the 12th grade gain in-depth understanding of the planning, designing, constructing, and testing of a variety of mechanical machinery, systems, and equipment.  Within the discipline of mechanical engineering, students can choose from a variety of specializations, such as robotics engineering, mechatronics engineering, thermal engineering, aerospace engineering, and nanotechnology.

I got 70 percentile in jee mains and 976 marks ipe .am in eligible to get a seat in sastra university in mechanical engineering.

Niharika Patibandla 2nd Jun, 2025

Hey there! yes, based on your academic performance, you have a good chance of securing a seat in Mechanical seat at Sastra University. Sastra University offers B.Tech admissions through 2 strems;

  • Stream 1: 70% of the seats are allocated based on a combination of JEE Mains score ( 25%) and class 12 (75%).
  • Stream 2: 30% of seats are filled based solely on Class 12 ( IPE) marks.

Given your 976 makrs and 70% in JEE Main, your high IPE marks position you well for stream 2 admissions. While a 70% score is moderate, when combined with your excellent IPE Marks, it enhances your chances in Stream1.

If you need assistance with application process or have further questions, feel free to ask ! All the best!

My ward has cutoff of 135.5. We are looking for a mechanical engineering course...is there any possibility to get the set thru single window system with this cutoff?

Samriddha Pal 2nd Jun, 2025

Hello,

With a cutoff of 135.5, your ward does have a fair chance of securing admission to a Mechanical Engineering course through the Single Window Admission System, especially if you're open to considering self-financed or rural engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. While top-tier government colleges usually require cutoffs above 190 for Open Category students, several colleges in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities accept students with cutoffs in the 130–160 range, particularly for those from reserved categories such as MBC, SC, or ST. The possibility of admission also improves based on the region and college preference, as some colleges in less competitive areas have slightly lower cutoff trends. If your ward belongs to a reserved category and you’re flexible with the choice of college location, there is a realistic chance of securing a seat in Mechanical Engineering.

Hope this helps. All the best!

please tell me about non attending diploma mechanical after iti and fee structure also

Samriddha Pal 1st Jun, 2025

Hello,

A non-attending diploma in Mechanical Engineering (also known as part-time, distance, or correspondence diploma) is designed for working professionals or ITI graduates who wish to continue their education without attending regular full-time classes. After completing ITI in a relevant trade (such as Fitter, Turner, or Machinist), you are eligible for lateral entry into the second year of the diploma course through part-time mode, usually offered by state technical education boards or institutions like IGNOU, NIOS, or recognized polytechnics.

The fee structure for such programs is relatively affordable, usually ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 25,000 per year, depending on the college and state. Government polytechnics charge lower fees, while private institutes may have slightly higher costs. In total, students can expect to spend around Rs 20,000 to Rs 60,000 for the entire course.

Hope this helps. All the best!
