How is the faculty and placement of Kamla Nehru College, Delhi University for Journalism? Will I be making the right choice by choosing KNC

athira_1490858591 Student Expert 2nd Jul, 2019

Hi Priya,

Congratulations on getting through KNC. It is among the best in DU for journalism. LSR and DCAC are the only better ones than KNC for journalism. However, in the field of media, it is your talent which makes more difference than your college.

Journalism is a professional course and nowadays, many students are opting for it. KNC has excellent faculty. Placements in DU are not very impressive generally as most people prefer to go for higher studies. However, KNC has a decent placement cell and your salary/job would depend on your talents and abilities. Moreover, media is a field where you need to prove your mark by doing as many internships during college with reputed journalism companies which will give you a better edge. If you have the right spark, you are bound to land into a good journalism career with or without the help of your college/course.

All the best!

I passed my 12th class with an aggregate of84.4% from commerce stream. I want to do B.a honours Journalism fromDU.pls tell how to cal best4.

Anjali Tanwar 29th Jun, 2019
Hello Ashish,
For admission in BA hons journalism you should score a minimum of 45% marks or more in English and a combination of other three elective subjects form the list A and List B and mass media given in the Bulletin of information for admission in under graduate courses.
If you include other subjects that are not mentioned in the two lists then a deduction of 2.5% per subject is made from the aggregate.
You can download the Bulletin from the official website of Delhi university.
I hope this helps.
All the best for the future!!

Chances of getting into dcac for journalism after deduction of 2.5% .is 87.5%. I also belong to obc category

Shubham Mudgil 27th Jun, 2019

Hi Tanzeel!

Your chances of getting into DCAC for BA (Honours) Journalism with 87.5% is good. In 2018 the percentage required for entry to this course came to 84% in the 8th Cutoff for OBC category

Apart from DCAC you would also succeed in getting into Maharaja Agrasen College in the 4th cutoff which asked for 85% marks. We expect 7-8 cutoffs this year as well and generally as many as 9 cutoffs are released every year.

There is also an entrance exam for Delhi School of Jornalism which offers 5 years integrated degree in Journalism and comes under DU as well. You can give this entrance exam as well if you have applied for it during the application process.

You can also keep a watch on courses like Advance Diploma in TV Programme and New Production.

Delhi University has unique cutoffs every year and they release it in a systematic manner. The percentages at which colleges offer different courses to different students  are kept concealed prior to the public release of the cutoffs.

There might slight variations in the cutoffs this year but still you have a good chance of getting into Delhi University to pursue BA (H) Journalism.

Im from general category and I got 80.5 can I get admission in Ba English hons or ba journalism

shruti bansal 23rd Jun, 2019

HELLO SRISHTI,

So it’s nice that you 80% marks in your 12 th board exam and first of all congratulations.

Secondly if you want to take admission in DELHI UNIVERSITY. so as you know very well that general students it is quite difficult to get admission in journalism or English hons but one more thing want to ask that in your best four exams you got 80% or it is your overall % as if it is your overall % then it is quite difficult for you to get but if in best four so get admission.

B.A. English Honours is a 3- year undergraduate course, minimum eligibility for which is a 10+2 or intermediate qualification. Successful pursuance of the course prepares candidates for careers in fields such as teaching, media, advertising, writing, and publishing, for further graduate or professional studies in English, communications, or law; and for other fields requiring competent communication skills. Top Institutes offering B.A. (Hons) English are:

· Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi

· Christ University, Bangalore

· Presidency College, Kolkata

· Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi

Thanks
