With 78%ile in CAT, what are my chances in MICAT? I have two years of work ex in the digital marketing/advertising industry.

Vikas Gaur 18th Jan, 2018

Hi Achintya,

To enter the admission process of MICA, you must meet the MICAT cutoff. MICA, this year, has given 20 percent weightage to CAT score, 30 percent weightage to score in MICAT exam, 20 percent to Group Exercise and 30 percent to Personal Interview, in its final selection procedure.

As per the MICAT selection procedure, you must have a valid score in CAT. So, you're good to go with this percentile. Second, you need to meet the official MICAT cutoff as decided by the institute. Check MICAT cutoff 2018 and MICAT 2018 Selection Procedure to know more about it.

As far as the preparation tips are concerned, check MICAT Preparation Tips.

All the best.

Does MICA considers CAT score or only the MICAT? And if it does what could be the cutoff?

Monika Shruti Gupta 10th Jan, 2018
Yes for MICA you must have given either CAT/XAT in order to be eligible for MICAT which is an aptitude cum psychometric test.
A percentile above 85 for both CAT and XAT is considered a good one for admission in MICA. However, MICA gives most weight to its own MICAT exam which comprises of 36 compulsory psychometric questions, 25 verbal ability questions, 25 quantitative reasoning questions, 25 general awareness questions,  30 divergent-convergent reasoning questions and 4 compulsory descriptive questions.
MICA releases a sample paper on its website before test for reference of students.
Each question carries one mark.
The cutoff is usually 45+.
It's, however, mandatory to pass the psychometric test without which one fails to get calls despite a very good score in MICAT itself.
All the best!!

What should be ones percentile in CAT to qualify for MICA (except for MICAT score)?

Sreetama Datta 24th Oct, 2017
There is no specific CAT percentile to qualify for MICAT. MICA will assign 50% weightage to CAT/XAT/GMAT scores while computing the composite score for shortlisting candidates. Hence, the higher your percentile, better will be your chance to secure admission in MICA.
