Microbiology
Hello there,
Microbiology is the study of all living organisms that are too small to be visible with the naked eye. This includes bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as 'microbes'. They play key role in nutrient cycling, climate change, food spoilage, the cause and control of disease, and biotechnology. Microbes can also be put to work in many ways like in making life-saving drugs, manufacturing of biofuels, cleaning up pollution, and producing/processing foods and drinks.
These all things are achieved with the help of microbiologists.
So to pursue a career in this field you need to take the physics, Chemistry ,Biology group in your 11th and 12th Science . Mathematics is optional if you take it s ok but not necessary.
You must score a minimum of 50% in your 12th from a recognised educational board to continue higher studies.
After that you should go for BS.c Microbiology which is a 3 year under graduate program. This will be the best course to give a kick start in your career. The admission for this course is mostly merit based but some colleges take entrance exams. Since admissions are merit based please score the best you can in 12th. A score of 70% above will get you a seat in good college.
Never stop after B.Sc . Always go for a M.Sc in Microbiology which is a 2 year Postgraduate course for improving your research skills. For admission to Masters minimum of 60% is required in undergraduate. Also many universities conduct entrance exam for the same.
After your studies you can work as a research assistant, biomedical scientist, food technologist, industrial microbiologist, environmental microbiologist.
The pay will be also good in range of Rs 5 lakhs per annum at start.
This is a developing sector so if you are interested please go for it.
Thank you
Microbiology is a very vast concept to be studies on and the various departments or branches under it are mentioned below:
Thank you very much , Hope you found your answer!!!!
Hello,
As per your question, You are asking about MSc in subjects like Zoology, botany, bio-technology, microbiology.
if you don't want to give entrance exam and admission through merit then you have to choose government college or private institute. Look out for above college options who provides MSc in your residential state.
you can apply for it. Here the percentage bar is high so your UG percentage has to be good to get selected for admission.
Application form may or may not open. You have to check it out once you select which college you want to join. Please comment your residential state so that i can suggest your some college option.
Hope it helps!
Dear Reem,
