There is no official statement or confirmation that NEC (National College) will be a university from May 2025. NEC (like National College Jayanagar or Basavanagudi) remains an affiliated college of Bangalore University and is not included in independent universities in Karnataka.

If any status change-from affiliated college to university-there was to be made, that would be communicated by the Karnataka state government and the University Grants Commission (UGC), and indicated through official notices and on the college website. Currently, NEC is still an affiliated college and not a university.
