Dear Aspirant,
NIT Trichy has the High rank among all the NITs. Hence, I would recommend that you choose it.
Yes, non-CSE people do get placed in IT companies.
1. If you are not interested in Chemical or Metallurgy then it is better to choose to NIT Trichy. You will have excellent exposure to great faculties, good access to internship and placements.
2. For getting into Software companies you will have to learn programming, and work hard to maintain your CGPA as well. You can do internships that align with your interests in software. That way you can improve your experience in this field and get a really good chance of getting placed in a good software companies with great package.
Hope this helps.
Greetings!
91 is a respectable percentile, however it is not enough to make into NIT Calicut, due to OBC and homestate quota, he may get some other lower branches like production engineering or something of that sort, getting CSE or electrical related branches is not going to be possible
You can use the following predictor to see which colleges he can get
See if you are targeting for a Management course later in your life like an MBA, then more than your branch the brand of your college matters more. The best colleges out there should be your preference, so the order according to me is:
BITS Goa BITS Hyderabad NIT Surat NIT Allahabad NIT Calicut NIT Nagpur

Hope I have answered your question. All the best!
IIIT Allahabad (ECE) - Pretty good in terms of course curriculum and quality of education. The faculty is also well experienced. Focus is given to the practical application of knowledge. ECE labs are well equipped. Placement is also nice. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Amazon, and Microsoft visit the campus for recruitment and internship purposes.
IIIT Lucknow (CSE) - In terms of infrastructure and placement, the institute is good. The placement percentage is 100% with the highest CTC of INR 43 lakhs per annum and an average CTC of INR 18.42 lakhs per annum.
NIT Calicut- Also good in terms of curriculum and placement. Higher CTC was of INR 67 lakhs per annum and the average CTC of INR 12 lakhs per annum.
NIT Warangal ( EEE) - Highest CTC in EEE was of INR 32.5 lakhs per annum and an average CTC was of INR 12 lakhs per annum.

As per your mentioned percentile your expected rank comes between 16150 to 22240.
Year 2021 NIT Calicut closing cutoff for ST category ( home state quota )
CE - 19380
EEE - 25878
ECE - 15329
ME - 17628
CSE - 2485
CHE - 26649
A s you got 98 percentile in JEE Mains. Also, you have an ST quota so according to the previous cutoffs there are good chances for you to get any branch except CSE branch in NIT Calicut . As, you have home state quota also, then you can get admission in 2th or 3rd round of counselling.
All the best !
Hey there!
It is not possible to get exact ranking corresponding to any score, as ranking of students is depends on various unavoidable factor like:
1- Difficulty level of Examination
2- Number of students appeared in exam
3- Relative marking
4- Category of an individual
and many more, however we can get a rough idea of rank by analyzing previous years trends of ranking vs score.
With 175 marks in JEE, your percentile would be around 98 and general rank would be anywhere in between 20460 to 23000, as per our JEE Mains rank predictor.
and your OBC category rank would be somewhere around 4000-5000
https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor?utm_source=engineering&utm_medium=recommended&utm_campaign=jee-main-2022
and according to some previous years data the cut off or closing rank for OBC category at NIT Calicut is around 12000 to 14000, hence you have some chances to get NIT Calicut for following program
You can also take a look on previous year closing rank of NIT Calicut

I hope you get answer to your question!
If you have scored a total of 40.03 marks out of 100 and have secured a rank of 5,743 with a score of 483, then there is no reason to believe that you won't get an admission in NIT Calicut in Thermal Science.
You have almost full chances of getting Thermal Science at National Institute of Technology, Calicut according to the cut-offs of previous years, depending on how your interviews go. Hope I have answered your question. All the best!
