I am ST student and I get 36 NTA SCORE in jee mains..... Am I eligible for advance Can I get a seat in nit sikkim

Anurag Khanna 24th Mar, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

See the qualifying cut-off percentiles which needs to be cleared by any candidate to sit in JEE-Advance is released along with the final result of JEE-Main and for JEE-Main 2021 the final result will be released after all four attempts will be completed and the final result will be on the basis of your best score amongst different attempts. However basis on previous year's cut-off trends we can help you with the expected qualifying cut-offs for this year :-

  • Common Rank List (CRL) - 90- 95 Percentile
  • GEN-EWS - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) - 50- 55 Percentile
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 40- 45 Percentile
  • PwD - 1-2 Percentile

So you have very low chances to get qualified for JEE-Advance 2021. Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff

If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2020 then according to the percentile mentioned by you in the question your CRL rank is expected to be in the range of 654720 - 736000 , you can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

Or

You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2020 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that the closing ST rank for NIT Sikkim was 3931 for Mechanical Engineering branch in NIT Sikkim under other state quota for ST category. And your ST rank is expected to be around 5,000 so you have quite less chances to get NIT Sikkim even if you have Home state quota. But yes if you improve your percentile in any further session of JEE-Main like around 50-55 then you might have a shot at NIT Sikkim.

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

Is nit sikkim good ???????????

Shivani sunil kakde 7th Oct, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

NIT Sikkim is ranked 28 out of 31 NIT'sas per the NIRF India ranking that rae released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The current campus of NIT Sikkim is in the hilly region of Ravangla and therefore the infrastructure is quite poor.In the beginning, there wasno internet connectivity but recently it had made available to the students. The library is small but has the books that students require. The laboratories are not very good. For many courses the required laboratories don't even exist, due to which students are taken to NIT Guwahati,Nit silchar and NIT Kharagpur for practical sessions.

The current facilities of NIT Sikkim is not satisfactory. An institute of national importance is still fighting for very basic things like permanent campus, labs, workshop, internet.Often students have to go to some other institutes for practical and workshops.

Thank you

I am getting lower branches in top nits. Is CSE at nit Sikkim good?

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 4th Oct, 2020

hi,

see nits has distinct syllabus follows for bachelor of technology courses , there is excellent college Infrastructure, decent students and faculty ration. overall nits is best then most of the private Institute In India. however cse is one of the most wanted  stream in nit sikkim. the average package offered is 8.5 lpa, where highest packages is 18 lpa. the top recruiters are ntel, L&T, Microsoft, Power Grid, IBM. However if you do not belongs to east India region it might be a quite distance from your home town, but I suppose it would be worth to study in nits sikkim because of its excellent placement, infrastructure and education quality.

sir , if I can have a chance for admission in nit sikkim, Arunachal pradesh, manipur and iiit like vadodara, kota, kanchipuram, guwahati itc. then which college i should choose

Ayush Pandey 3rd Oct, 2020

Hello,

See if you are getting  top branches like CSE, ECE, IT, then you can go for these NITs else you should prefer IIITs.

These new IIITs are continuously developing and their average package is increasing with every passing year. Course curriculum is great.

In my opinion IIIT Vadodara=IIIT Kota>IIIT Guwahati>NIT Arunachal>NIT Sikkim>NIT Manipur

what is placement scenario in NIT SIKKIM FOR MTECH (electrical)

SANKET GHOSH 17th Sep, 2020

NIT SIKKIM placements are increasing year by year And its almost fine as compared to its location and infrastructure.

In electical dept. students got placements over 10 LPA in both B.tech and M.tech. Also the average salary was around 6-7 LPA. Many govt. undertakings like powergrid, bharat petroleum etc. also offered jobs.( 55-60%placed). Companies like Intel,IBM,Bosch also offered jobs(in ongoing 2020 season)

As a centrally funded institution which is just came into being, it is growing fairly in infrastructure as well as placements.
