I am very sorry but it's very tough for you to get admission in NIT Trichy because it requires really high rank. You can try for other colleges. However, fill the coices as you want it to be because the counseling process can be really unpredictable at times.

See production engineering will always be considered less than mechanical. What all say is that production is mechanical-thermo.

And studying production in NIT TRICHY. In first thought we will think that it is nit trichy obviously it will be good. But it is not good especially if you want placement after btech. It is worse there. You will never be considered equal to your mechanical friends and this is a bitter truth.

So think wisely, if you want to persue higher education then you can go else look for other branches.

You mentioned your rank is 55,404 in the obc ncl category.Acoording to the previous year cut off trends and the opening and closing ranks of both the institutes, I regret to inform you that your rank is too high to secure a seat in mechanical engineering as the closing rank was 41k last year even for home state.

I would like to suggest you that you should go for NIT Trichy rather than that of the IIT Dhanbad.

NIT Trichy is quite known for CS branch and its placements are mesmerising. It will provide you a healthy learning environment. But if you want to look for IIT , its campus and what does it actually feels to be an IITian then you may go for it as from the past few years it has actually improved a lot for it's placement.

Congratulations for this much rank. Coming to your query, you are eligible to get admission in B. Arch in NIT trichupalli, NIT calicut, MNIT jaipur, NIT Kharagpur by your ews rank. But not eligible by your general rank. So go with your reservation rank to secure NIT Tiruchirappalli.

See , it never matters that you live where , or you are settled where. what matters is always from where you finished you 12th degree/highschool degree.

Because in any exams they ask for domicile . And domicile means this only, place from where you comleted your 12th.

So as you are from tamil nadu, but you have completed 12th from telangana , so your home state will be telangana and for nit trichy you will be considered as other state.
