If you want to write a NTSE exam than it is not important to a candidate if he/she got a NMMS scholarship because there are two parameters which you need to to fulfill one is the age criteria  second is your class, you must be in class 10th

national merit cum means scholarship is a centrally sponsored scholarship scheme, however students gets around 6000 per year one time in their bank account, nmms scholarship needs to renew in every year, however I suggest you to contact with nmms help desk to clarify your problems regarding stipend issue.

see to apply for national merit cum means scholarship you dont need to wait upto 10th exam, you may apply for nmms scholarship once you pass your 8th standard exam, the eligibility criteria is,

The candidate  must pass class 8th with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST)
